A week of routine, the worst trail ever laid, and scouting for the green dress run
In only my second week of diet and exercise at the gym and I have already lost 1.35kg (2.97lbs). I was proud of this achievement and hope to keep shedding this weight in the weeks to come.
I am making progress in my mandarin lessons. Between my lessons and daily use of Duolingo I hope my progress yields meaningful results for my literacy and fluency. Mandarin is a tonal language. So, for example, if I say "ma" it could mean mother, horse, hemp/cannabis, or scold depending on the tone I use. If I use the wrong "ma" I may mistakenly scold your mother for smoking weed with a horse. This makes the language fairly difficult but I am learning.
On Friday I had hoped that my friend Alexander would be hosting a game night but nobody was available. So instead I went home after the gym and did some meal prep.
Saturday I had anticipated that Faye would be visiting in the late afternoon. When it turned out she would not be coming until later in the evening I decided to go hashing. This was a mistake. The hares failed to mark their trail very well and I was quickly hopelessly lost. I ended up going home because I got frustrated with running back and forth at a split in the trail trying to find marks that did not exist. In seven years of hashing I only ever got lost twice. Both times were with the Shekou H3. The first time was partially my fault but this time it was all on the hares and their failure to properly mark their trail. They practically hid their marks and it was very annoying communicating with the hare that they did a shit job.
Faye came over late Saturday night and we went out to eat. I had run 7 miles that day so hoped that I wasn't undoing the exercise by breaking my diet. On Saturday we hiked another 7km with our mutual friend Anna because we were scouting the walkers trail for our upcoming Green Dress Run on March 18th. Faye and I went out to eat again Sunday night after scouting the trail. Then we spent some time planning where to go for a trip during our next break.
I will find out later today when I step on the scale if breaking from my diet undid all my hard work or if walking 14 miles in two days justified the indulgence.
